from 495 euros per person
Do you feel tired, stressed, burned out, or just
struggling to cope with the pressures of everyday life?
If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of these, then this holiday
can relieve those feelings and act as the perfect ‘balm’
to your body and soul. It is an exploration of your inner and outer
world to rejuvinate your physical and mental well-being. A blend of
both trekking and yoga, this uplifting yet relaxing holiday is based
in the Sibillini Mountains National park, where peace, tranquility and
beauty combine to provide the perfect yoga experience.
The holiday will most likely appeal to those seeking a gentle introduction
to yoga or simply some stress relief without an ‘intense’
yoga experience. There is no restrictions on diet with delicious Umbrian
cuisine served daily from the acclaimed restaurant at ‘Il Collaccio’
and we encourage the sampling of the excellent local wines!
Trekking Yoga – what is it?
A unique blend of yoga and walking designed by Paolo Ricci, an Italian
yoga teacher with many years experience of yoga teaching and hosting
yoga holidays worldwide.
Connecting with nature is the theme at the heart of the trekking yoga
experience. An opportunity to connect not only with the ‘outside
nature’ found all around you whilst walking in the mountains and
forests of Umbria, but also a connection with your ‘inner nature’
achieved through the practice of yoga and silent meditation.
Paolo believes that you can truly open and clear your mind during and
after the physical exertion of a mountain walk, leaving it in the perfect
state to fully absorb the yoga philosophy.
The programme
The yoga is carried out at three different times of the day: early morning
before breakfast; at mid-day when we reach a particularly scenic place
during the walk; and at the end of the walk on our return to ‘Il
Collaccio’. The yoga exercises are simple and not too strenuous
so are therefore suitable for anyone with a reasonable fitness level-
the emphasis being on breathing exercises and techniques.
The walks are safe and not difficult, lasting around four to five hours
each day. We leave after breakfast and take a packed lunch with us.
In the afternoon, following our return to ‘Il Collaccio’,
there are a couple of hours of free time to relax and enjoy the facilities.
You can take a swim in one of the panoramic pools, read, or simply relax
in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings.
About the Tutor
For over 20 years, Paolo Ricci, working as a journalist for a variety
of Italian magazines and newspapers, lived and travelled extensively
in Asia, gaining a fascinating insight in to everyday life in this intriguing
part of the world.
Through his work he was able to closely observe yoga and oriental psychophysical
disciplines, eventually dedicating himself to studying and fully understanding
them. He has been a teacher of Kundalini yoga for over 30 years.
Paolo wanted to combine this knowledge with the two other passions in
his life: walking amongst nature and the ‘walk’ to find
one’s inner self. The unique experience of trekking yoga is the
end result of the fusion of these desires.
