A feast of wine, olive oil and classic Umbrian food. Daily guided tours include vineyards, wine tasting, olive oil and wine museums. Sample and learn about truffles, salami, meat and cheeses at specially selected local producers. Relax each evening and enjoy a gourmet dinner in our highly acclaimed ‘Porcello Felice’ restaurant.

What do we do?

Day 1: we take you to local food producers that have been specially selected for their traditional production methods or the quality of their produce. You will have the opportunity to taste the products and learn about the production process from start to finish. The salami, cured meats, and pecorino (sheeps’ milk) cheeses from the area of Norcia along with the lentils of Castellucio on the Piano Grande are highly prized in Italy for their high quality and flavour. Not only is the food excellent but also the visits often provide a glimpse of the traditional way of life in rural Italy. The stunning, unspoilt mountain scenery along the way provides the perfect backdrop to the visits.

Day 2: a short tour of the Montefalco area, where some of Italy’s best known red wines are produced. We start with a wander around the beautiful Roman town of Bevagna, rich in Roman and medieval architecture. After a Cappuccino in the beautiful piazza, we move on to a wine tasting visit at the Cantina of Caprai, one of the top wine producers of the area. Here we sample their extensive range of wines including their acclaimed Montefalco and Sagrantino reds. We take lunch in the pretty town of Montefalco itself, followed by the chance to roam around this interesting town and enjoy the stunning views of the Umbrian landscape, which fully justifies its reputation as ‘the balcony of Umbria’.

Day 3: a free day and a chance to rest your feet (and stomach!). You can relax in the beautiful hotel grounds, take a walk in the national park or perhaps explore the surrounding area further.

Day 4: we take you to the town of Torgiano, home of the world-renowned Lungarotti wine estate for a guided tour of their excellent wine and olive oil museums. The experienced museum guides will give you a fascinating summary on the history, production and uses of these wonderful products. After lunch in a traditional restaurant in the town, we visit the Lungarroti Vineyard for a tour of the Cantina and a wine tasting of their ‘riserva’ wines including their Rubesco reds, which are considered to be amongst the finest in Italy.

A superb gourmet dinner with local wines is served each evening in our excellent ‘Porcello Felice’ Resaurant.
